Chak De India!

Phew! finally the much awaited, most hyped, heart wrecking, nail biting match between India and Pakistan is over. Our men in blue chased the men in green back to their homes. What an amazing victory it was! If anyone missed watching this match, you sure did miss something dreadfully. It is a match that would be remembered forever. Every minute was worth watching. I was glued in front of the TV for complete nine hours. Though I was a little tetchy about media hypes (calling this as a war) about the game, I turned to be a fanatic while watching it. I enjoyed every single minute. For once I am proud of Indian bowling and fielding. Our boys did really well. Sorry, Nehra for being harsh on you. You proved us completely wrong (Suraj will also agree with me). I take back my words. Now that everyone knows how the match went on, I am not going to write a summary on that. This is my version about the game:

Sachin: It was just not your day in terms of the performance but we all know that god was watching you play, so only you were dropped four times(made my heart skip a beat). Weren't you overly lucky?

Afridi: I liked your calm and composed attitude even when the wickets were falling. Anyways that didn’t really help you guys.

Wahab Riaz: Dude, what did you eat for breakfast? You got five wickets on a semi-final match against India. That’s a great achievement.

Kamran Akmal: Why were you shouting so much on the field? Are you so much in love with Shahid Afridi’s name? Felt like stuffing something in your mouth.

Nehra: You rocked the match, good performance in terms of fielding and bowling. I love the way you dived and caught the ball, though it didn’t fetch us Misbah’s wicket but good effort.

Raina: One reliable player in the Indian team. It’s wonderful to see your performance even under the pressure.

Yuvi: Bad luck dude, why did you collapse like that? We were expecting to see some good shots from you. Nevertheless you compensated in bowling.

Viru: A standing ovation for you. The way you kicked off the match it was like a blazing fire. We expected India to score at least 3oo runs. Good start and we are depending on you for Saturday.

Harbajan: You are a star by taking the most crucial wickets for India (Umran & Afridi).

Dhoni: You proved to be a good captain but what happened to your individual contribution? Aren't you getting enough time from your shoots(endorsements) to practice?

Zaheer: You played a vital role in India's win.

It was a match that every Indian will cherish for the rest of their lives. Go India Go, get the world cup and make us proud.

La Casa

Bonding with your colleagues over team lunches are always fun. Though we see them every day, it makes a difference when it’s outside the workplace. We get to see everyone in an unperturbed frame of mind. We decided on a team lunch today (PET and KM) at ‘La Casa’ on Sarjapur road. Here is a small outline for those of you who missed it:

We reached the venue at about 1 P.M, thanks to Prashanth and Prasath for giving us a ride. The place looked cozy. As we walked inside we saw lots of plants and trees. The ambience caught everybody’s attention. We decided to dine outside in the midst of the greenery. As we had already gone through the menu on their website, we were ready with our orders (thinking it would save time) with some minor changes. We ordered for beverages, starters, main course and waited for them to serve us.

We waited for 30 minutes and there was no sign of food coming towards our tables. Everyone was agitated, I don’t know if the reason was summer's heat or hunger pangs. Finally we received our drinks, most of them had ordered for ‘Citrus mint’. The drink was a mixture of orange, lime and mint. Unfortunately none enjoyed their drink. I can say it was one of the most awful drink that was ever served.

Though everyone finished their drink, there was still no sign of starters reaching the tables. We were pretty surprised when we (Sowmya NS, Sharvari and I) saw our ‘Four Seasons’ pizza approaching us (I never knew pizza was a starter). It didn’t matter to us. As we were hungry we attacked the pizza without waiting for the starters. Then comes our ‘Creamy Tomato’ soup. That was yummy! We finished that, but still no sign of our salads.

We finished our appetizers and everyone got their main course items. Once we finished our main course, we insisted them to get our ‘Green Salad’ and ‘German Potato Salad’. They served us the green salad first, awwh what a disappointement!
Do you want to know why? The description for green salad on their website said, a fusion of onion, tomato, cucumber, carrot and green chillies, a Mediterranean favourtie. It sounds nice isn’t it? I don’t know if it was my expectation or the description, all we got was few tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers and onion sliced and set on a plate. It looked like the ones that are served everyday in our cafeteria.

Then arrived the German potato salad (diced potatoes tossed in mayonnaise and cream). Well it didn’t look like that at all; all we could figure out is some pieces of salt-less potato (half boiled) immersed in yogurt. In simple words, it was our Indian potato raitha.
After all this, we still had two pending orders ‘Vegetarian Fusion Penne’ and ‘Vegetable Lasagna’; by the time we got it we had lost the appetite for that. As per them, vegetarian fusion penne is the ultimate in veggie fusion food. However, it was so ultimate that nothing went beyond two spoons from each of us plate.
Then for vegetable lasagna (sheets of pasta layered with vegetables and creamy white sauce topped with cheese) there were no traces of vegetables in that. The only contentment was, it was better than the penne; at least we were able to eat something.

All in all, this place is definitely not a good option for the vegetarians (Italian). I wish I could have included the reviews for non-veg food also.
How can I forget the desserts, we ordered for ‘Fruit Jackpot’ (thanks to Latha for choosing), it indeed was the only right choice. Next time you want to go this place, keep in mind to order your food at least two hours prior or else you can take a quick nap while waiting for your food.

Randomness

Lost in my thoughts
Lost in my dreams
Too many questions asked
Very few answered
Time can only tell
Time can only heal

***

Sleepy heads
Tensed faces
Exams nearing
They are fearing
Too little time to revise
Too much to cover
They wish they had studied earlier
Now it's vain; can only do it next year

Addiction

I Know I show up very little these days on my blog. I don’t know what to blame it on; not getting enough time, too much work or my mood swings. Anyways I promise to write something regularly now on. You all know about my varying obsessions right? I am a cancerian and my mood swings at the snap of a finger, so does my obsessions. My new obsession is to give up sweets and coffee. These two things have been integral part of me. It’s not an easy thing to let go of these addictions. Over the weekend I decided to quit eating sweets. Though I had made up my mind several times in the past, but never was successful. I was all geared up in executing my mission this time; there comes a big box of cashew nut burfi (Kaju burfi). My uncle bought a new car and wanted to share his happiness through the sweets. How can I say no to him? How can I make him feel bad? So, I ate one. Can anyone just stop with one piece? I ate one more and then goes the list. My decision can be postponed not his happiness right? ( It's such a lame excuse right?)

Though I failed in the sweets segment, I can say I am better with the coffee one. At least I am able to quit my morning coffee. It’s not that I am addicted to coffee, just that we share a very strong bonding. I can never start my day without a cup of coffee (filter coffee to be precise). It was nearly impossible to quit my morning coffee. But I did, it’s been a week now that I had my morning coffee. I would very soon stop my evening coffee as well.

Heights of Stupidity

She liked the boy and the boy liked her too. They exchanged words with each other in a book every day. She was afraid of someone checking her book. Her mom found the diary and read about everything. Mom was furious went to the school to report it to the teacher. The girl felt sorry for the boy, didn’t know how to face her mom. She ended her life at the age of 11 years when she was still in class VI. Do we call this love or infatuation?  How can anyone end their life like this?

Is 11 years even an age to fall in love and end life? Isn't this stupidity?

Lay-Offs

It's the 'D' day in the AOL India office where the verdict was announced about layoffs. AOL did let go of about 400 employees from technology and about 300 employees were transitioned to different companies. Although AOL is famous for downsizing its employee base every year in the US, this came as a shocker to Indian employees. I don’t know if I am fortunate or not to move to a different organization. The point is this was not expected to happen in such large magnitude. The thought of moving out of AOL campus is still not sinking in me. I feel bad for the ones who lost their jobs. That way I am thankful that I at least have a backup option. I really feel sad about the whole incident. I miss a whole lot of things about this office.

Happy birthday!!!!

I'm so thankful for a husband
Who cares for me so
And for all the love
To me that you show

You're one of the best
With a pure heart of gold
You're thoughtful and kind
You have a good soul

That's the kind of person
I see in you
Someone I can count on
Without you, what would I do?

Thank you for overlooking the faults in me and bringing me back when I was down in the dumps. Though we had our arguments over the years (some of them even brought me tears) but I always like the way you made me laugh after those fights. I cherish the good times we’ve shared and the things you’ve done to show me that you care. I can’t express my love to you in words, all I can say is that our love that’s made our marriage grow. Thank you for standing behind me in all that I do. I hope you're as happy with me as I am with you.

Wishing you a wonderful birthday
